Hi!  My name is Karrah and I am thrilled that you have stopped by my blog!  Let me introduce myself and we’ll get to know each other.

I live in Henryville, IN… but am a Kentucky girl forever (GO CATS!).  I grew up in a small town in south central Kentucky and got a job in Louisville when I was 23.  Once I met my husband and we had our son, I knew city living wasn’t for me, so we moved 20 miles north of Louisville and have been here since my son was 2.

I have a 40 hour a week job, flip houses and my husband and I just purchased our first rental house… crazy right? Needless to say, I’m super busy, so my writing has been sporadic in the past, but I’m following a plan now to put content out on a regular basis!

Why did I start this blog?

This seems to be the question I get the most.  My dad wasn’t a carpenter, or fixer upper and actually neither is my husband.  So when we bought our house in 2007, it needed A LOT of updating, but to hire all of that out would have cost a fortune.  So I am self taught – I research, listen and learn…and love it!

Anyway, as I started doing projects, I would post the before and after on my Facebook page for my family and friends to see.  The response was overwhelming!  I was asked MANY times how to do something… so finally I decided, why not start a blog and chronicle everything.

How did I come up with the name?

Remember, I didn’t grow up with this or marry in to being handy.  My husband is one of the hardest working people I know… and you’ll hear me refer to him as my “Demo Hubby,” it’s amazing, he can tear down drywall, fences or whatever in no time at all.  But when it came to fixing things, he always wanted me to hire it out.

A few years ago, I had a plumber come and hook up a vanity for me.  He told me the faucet and sink kit I got wouldn’t work… and I just KNEW he was wrong.  Like I said before, I research A LOT.  I had purchased the vanity online and read every review and also ordered the same faucet and sink kit that others had ordered and theirs worked just fine.  So the plumber left and I thought, I’m going to just do it myself.

I was quick to text him about it and he said, “Well, aren’t you just a Miss Do It Yourself.”  That stuck with me and when it came time to come up with a name, I knew exactly what it had to be!

What can you expect?

My thought has been, with the right instruction, you can do anything!  Never stop learning!!! My hope is that the projects I do will inspire you to be fierce, be bold and try new things.

A promise that I make to you is to always blog with integrity.  I do not promote products that I haven’t tried or don’t believe in.  I will give you my honest opinion and share things that go wrong and what to expect.

So sit back, explore the site and enjoy yourself!  I post pictures to Facebook all the time, giving sneak peaks of projects I am currently working on, giveaways and general inspiration from other bloggers.  Click here to follow me on Facebook!

Feel free to email me with questions or comments at mrsdoitherselfblog@gmail.com. I’m happy to answer any questions about DIY, house flipping or how to get started with rental property.

Have fun and be fearless!
